After the crapness of having my bikes stolen in April, May was a pretty good month. June hasn't started quite so well.
Went out on a ride from Marc's house last night and really wish I hadn't bothered.
The bridleway was overgrown but rideable and then turned into a wall of 5 foot tall nettles
The roads were busy and everybody seemed to be trying to pass me as close as possible despite there being plenty of room to go round.
And to top it all when I got back I had two flat tyres - a single small thorn in each.
The timing for the punctures was uncanny as my new pump (the old pump hasn't been seen since the break in at the garage) and new spare inner tube arrived in the post yesterday morning.
The new pump is crap and seems to leak more air than it puts into the tyre. It also destroyed the valve on the back inner tube after I'd patched it, so I ended up using my new tube in the back and co2 cannisters to pump the tyres up.
And then I got up this morning and the front was flat again. Why didn't I just stop in front of the tv with a beer?
Assuming I can get the front fixed again in time, I'm hoping tonight's after work loop of Beacon Hill is a bit more successful.
