Today I headed up to Sherwood for another day biking.

Weekdays are weird - in 4 hours riding I saw just two other people.

I've got this week off work so yesterday morning I headed round to City Cycles to pick up a new innertube as I spotted I'd got a puncture in my front tyre over the weekend. Once that was fixed the heavens opened, so I abandoned biking for the day and headed home.

This morning was much nicer so I headed over to Rutland Water and managed a very muddy 23 mile peninsular loop only to arrive back at the car with a fast deflating front tyre.

My new innertube had lasted a whole 3 hours before picking up two massive thorns.

Took me ages to get to work this morning as I had to find an alternative route.

The road between Syston and Rothley was about a foot deep in water.

A few brave souls in trucks and 4x4s were just about wading through it, but pretty much everyone else was turning around.

Not visible in the photo (the van is in the way) is a silver Vectra coming the other way who had obviously tried and failed - it was sat in the middle of the water with the drivers door open and no driver to be seen.
